Hybrid infrastructure services

Some systems are moving; others have good reasons to stay. We help connect them so staff can use the complete service without having to care which part runs in the cloud and which remains on-site.

This is integration and change work. Hybrid management covers ongoing operation afterwards.

Begin with the journeys across the boundary

Which application needs the local database? Which users sign in through a retained identity service? Where does information move between the two environments? Those questions help turn a broad hybrid ambition into specific connections that can be designed and tested.

We consider addressing, name resolution, authentication, connection capacity and supplier restrictions along those paths. Decisions about what stays local may involve compatibility, latency or the cost of change, not simply a preference for one location.

Test the complete task, not just the new host

The project can cover the dependency map, target connections, access responsibilities and implementation stages. Agree the application checks and acceptance owners alongside the technical design.

A cloud application with an on-site file or database dependency needs testing across that connection. A successful login to its new server does not establish that the normal business workflow works. Monitoring and administration handover should reflect the complete service too.

Know what a failed connection would interrupt

Consider which tasks continue and which stop if connectivity, identity or another important dependency becomes unavailable. The recovery plan needs to identify the responsible teams and the order in which services can be restored.

Where the location decision is still open, hybrid cloud is a useful starting point. Hybrid security looks at the security boundaries around connected environments.

An integration project does not have to move every application. It does need to leave retained components visible in support and recovery planning, rather than treat the systems outside the immediate change as somebody else’s unexplained dependency.

Before you decide

Your questions, answered

Does a hybrid project have to move all our applications?

No. The work can cover a defined set of workloads or connections while other systems remain in place. We still need to understand the dependencies on retained components, because those affect testing, support and recovery even when the project is not changing them directly.

How do we know which systems should stay on-site?

That decision depends on the applications, compatibility, connections and business constraints. Some systems may be costly or disruptive to move without a useful benefit. We work through the reasons for each placement instead of treating a hybrid environment as an unfinished attempt to move everything.

What should the project test?

The agreed tests should follow important user tasks and data flows across both environments. Include the identity and connectivity dependencies, not just whether individual resources are available. Consider relevant failure behaviour too, so the business understands what is affected when an important connection or service is lost.

Who manages the combined environment afterwards?

That should be decided as part of the handover. Your team, Proxar or other suppliers may retain different responsibilities, but the monitoring, administration and incident routes need to meet. Ongoing hybrid management is a separate arrangement from the project that establishes or changes the integration.

Your next step

Which cloud and on-site systems need to work together?

Tell us what is changing and the applications or connections that must keep working. We will help you map the dependencies and plan an integration that the business and support teams can both use.
