Managed infrastructure

Your applications rely on servers, storage and supporting systems that need care even when nobody is reporting a fault. We help organise the agreed administration and maintenance, with a clear route for problems that cross technical boundaries.

We begin with what you run, where it lives and the suppliers involved in keeping it working.

Establish what you are asking us to look after

Review inventories, configurations, access, capacity and software support status. Existing monitoring, recovery arrangements and unresolved faults belong in the starting picture too. Taking on a service should not make an inherited issue disappear from view.

The layers matter. A virtualisation host, an operating system, a database and a business application need different work and may have different owners. We identify the layers covered rather than treat infrastructure as an unlimited support promise.

Keep maintenance and decisions connected

Routine administration needs a place alongside change approval, maintenance windows and service reviews. Capacity or equipment-lifecycle findings may need a business investment decision, not just an engineering task. Keep those actions visible and assigned to the right person.

A storage alert illustrates the difference. The answer might be housekeeping, expansion or a review of application data retention. Buying more storage may be appropriate, but it does not automatically address the reason capacity keeps disappearing.

Know whether you are buying hosting, management or both

Record equipment ownership and hosting charges separately from operational tasks. Managed hosting brings hosting and agreed care together. Cloud management covers work on cloud infrastructure your organisation already holds.

The agreement should also identify who handles fault investigation and supplier escalation. A working infrastructure layer does not always mean the application is usable, so the handover to its owner needs to be clear.

Bring your main systems and operational concerns to the first discussion. Missing records can be identified during discovery, but assumptions about access, support status or recovery should be resolved before you rely on the proposed service.

Before you decide

Your questions, answered

Does this include our business applications?

Only where the application responsibility is explicitly included. The infrastructure and the software above it may belong to different support teams. We identify the layers covered and the handover to a publisher or internal specialist so an incident does not stop at a healthy server.

Can you take on systems with incomplete documentation?

The gaps need to be identified and, where required, investigated during discovery. Access, ownership, dependencies and support status affect what can be managed. It is better to allow for that work than assume the undocumented environment is fully understood from the first day.

Are replacement equipment and upgrades included?

Not automatically. Recurring administration and maintenance should be distinguished from hardware purchases, major upgrades and project work. The service needs a way to raise those requirements, explain the reason and obtain approval before costs or changes are committed.

How does our team stay involved?

We can divide responsibilities around the systems and skills you retain. Agree who approves changes, owns applications and follows up suppliers, with shared records of the work. That lets outside help add capacity without leaving your staff uncertain about decisions affecting their services.
